  • 5cups rolled oats (not instant)
  • 1 can chickpeasdrained + rinsed
  • 1/3cup finely diced pepper
  • 1jalapeño pepper (can be left out)
  • 1cup grated marrow
  • 1-2TBSP chopped spring onion
  • 1/2TBSP oil
  • 1/2tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4tsp  oreganum
  • 1/4tsp salt
  • 1large egg

Combine oats and chickpeas in food processor and pulse a few times to roughly chop the chickpeas and oats. Mixture should look chopped but not be paste-like or wet/mushy. Grate the marrow roughly and drain excess water with roller towel. Sauté  pepper, jalapeño, marrow and spring onion in avocado oil until peppers are tender. Season with garlic powder, red pepper flakes, oregano, and salt. Add the freshly sauteed veggies to your bean mixture, then add your egg. Mix together and form into 4 balls, flatten into patties and leave to cool in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Get the braai going and pop the patties onto your braai! Serve with rolls, coleslaw and potato salad. Enhoy!
